I got into keeping tropical fish as a hobby in September of 1968, being told it’s a fad. And after 42 years find I am still active in the hobby. I joined my local club Uxbridge and district in 1969 and over the next few years my interest grew. And with help from Aquarists like Ron Forder, Terry and Doris Cruickshank and my first employer Tom Summers who ran Hayes Aquatics in west London. My knowledge and interest in keeping fish grew. While still a junior being trained as a C class judge for the F B A S while a Uxbridge club member.

I was a member of British Aquarists Study Society and attended meetings at London Zoo,  one of the first members of the of a catfish group in west London which formed into the Catfish Association of Great Britain, I was a member of Thames Valley Catfish Group which is now the Southern Counties Catfish and Rescue Society. I am also a founder member of the Southern Livebearers Aquarist Group, a member of British

Livebearer Association and Catfish Study Group. From this you can see I am interested in Catfish and livebearers.

I moved to Hampshire in 1974 and joined Basingstoke club in 1975, had a spell away from the club seen while proprietor of Andover Aquatics which I ran for ten years. In which time the A of A came into being.

I became a judge for the A of A in the eighties and was upgraded to a Senior Judge about fifteen years ago. At which time I became Vice Chairman of the association
